Hi **vornaam**, Today kicks off the first in a three-part series taking you behind the scenes into the minds and work of the people tasked with helping you succeed in the best and biggest possible ways. You won’t want to miss these. In part 1, we asked Gijs Vroom, publisher of EMERCE and founder of EDAY, to share some of the vision and “why” that goes into the event series. Here’s what he shared: Hi Gijs. At work and in meetings, we sometimes hear you talking about who is “behind the content” at events and content series. It seems to be a passion subject for you. Can you tell us more about that? Aha – so you are listening to me in those meetings after all! :) Sure, and yes, it’s a passion topic. It’s always remarkable to me just how much content is out there, trying to tell you what to do, what next big secret you must listen to, how much you’ll regret it if you don’t do this now. It would be impossible, and rather redundant, to listen to even half of it. But how do you determine who holds the information you want? And who are the people you should listen to? The more we have available online, the more ‘fluff’ there is, too, and the more you also need to be weary and be able to trust your content sources. So what is your solution to this? For me, this is what is really interesting about the pairing of journalists and an editorial team with business-related content series. Journalists tend to be curious researchers and question-ers, generally looking to cut through the fluff and get to the real “meat” of the story. By putting journalists and independent moderators in charge of programming content series, you gain the benefit of hearing great, interesting, and particularly timely stories – without having to cut through all the ‘crap’ – so to speak. How do you find speakers and content for EMERCE EDAY? And how do you know who are the ones to listen to? Every year we look at our program team and make sure we have journalists and moderators who specialise in the topics we want to cover. This way, we know we’ll have experts who have been reading, watching and engaging with the type of content we want to deliver all year round. We task them with bringing “firsts” to EMERCE EDAY and, often, to the Netherlands. We are all journalists and as such, get a kick out of bringing news as it’s breaking. If it’s out there already, it’s not as interesting to us, or to you. So they go for what is new and what absolutely needs to be heard but that might be easy to miss, and make sure it comes from the brands and thought leaders who are credible and know how to be successful in practice. That’s generally our time-tested, winning combination in a nutshell. BUT - I think you should talk more to them to get the insider scoop on the stories they’re selecting this year…* (*Editor’s note: through this comment – a series was born… Tune in next month for part 2, with insider secrets from the EMERCE EDAY program desk!) And while you’re at it – make sure to register for EMERCE EDAY 2021. It takes 2 minutes and it’s free. Your future self will thank you. With content love, Team EMERCE EDAY |
