Miami’s Pérez Art Museum has acquired acquired iconic images images by Gordon Parks and Kwame Brathwaite, and a vibrant painting by Tunji Adeniyi-Jones through their newly renamed Fund for Black Art. US State Department urged Turkey to immediately release art philanthropist Osman Kavala and denounced the “specious charges against Kavala, his ongoing detention, and the continuing delays in the conclusion of his trial.” The New Mexico Museum of Art and the state’s Department of Cultural Affairs are dismissing community concerns over the retirement of a historic Chicano mural. The Monuments Project’s new AR App allows you to insert monumental figures of under-recognized icons like Shirley Chisholm and Toussaint Louverture into public spaces.
