Summery, mostly rain-free weekend until late Sunday. Our clear, sunny skies return for the weekend, with highs in the 80s to the lower 90s across the state. It’ll be pretty nice and summery until late Sunday afternoon when there is a chance of rain and thunderstorms that could carry overnight into Monday. One month after Floyd’s killing: People mourn, reflect, celebrate and come together at his memorial. At the spot where George Floyd was pinned down by a white police officer exactly a month ago, people gathered to remember his and many other Black men’s lives lost, and hope for changes and a better future. Here are self-portraits of some of the people at the memorial yesterday and what they had to say after a month since Floyd’s death. History of co-ops in the Twin Cities: How they were born, and how they have reshaped the way food is grown, sold, distributed. A new book by Winona State University professor Craig Upright explores the activist roots of Minnesota’s co-ops in the 60s and the 70s, and roles they’ve played in distributing sustainable, nutritious food in communities. Upright talked with All Things Considered host Tom Crann about his book and the history of the co-ops in Minnesota on this week’s Appetites. Listen/read more here. COVID-19 in Minnesota today: Almost 500 new cases reported -- highest since June 5; bar-driven clusters in Minneapolis, Mankato. Officials on Friday also released the names of the establishments in Mankato — Rounders and The 507 — where recent clusters of cases stem from. They are also looking into about 30 cases involving young adults who visited two bars in Minneapolis’ Dinkytown — Cowboy Jack’s and Kollege Klub — between June 14 and June 21. They urge Minnesotans who visited those bars to get tested and everyone to follow health guidelines such as social distancing and wearing a mask. Read more here. Minnesota is seeing a biking boom.
