Santiago Mazuelas, RamĂłn y Cajal researcher at BCAM and Ikerbasque, will lead this project which aims at early prediction of the severity of COVID-19 infections through automatic learning techniques. The project has has a budget of 228,000 euros and a duration of 3 years. We are currently looking for a Research Technician and a PhD Student to contribute to this project.
The Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium and BCAM will collaborate to optimize water supply management
Both entities will collaborate in order to develop statistical models that contribute to maximise the guarantee of supply resources and minimise operating costs. In the development of the project, data from the main supply system of Gran Bilbao, the Zadorra and Ordunte reservoirs, will be analysed and optimisation algorithms will be applied to help make decisions.
The European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI) launched a competition last march to challenge students to derive a prediction model for pollen concentration. One of the two reports awarded by the ECMI committee was submitted by Carlos Peña, who is currently working at BCAM as a Research Technician. The jury valued the originality of approach, the implementation, the results and overall quality of the report he presented.
