With the FDA giving full approval of the Pfizer vaccine, students at Louisiana universities will soon have to show proof that they've been inoculated against COVID 19. LSU could make moves soon to require the vaccine; the University of Louisiana system says the paperwork won't be required unto the next registration period.

The coronavirus is "spreading like wildfire" in Louisiana's rural parishes. They have the lowest vaccination rates in the state, and the Delta surge is taking root there, as Sam Karlin explains.

A Baton Rouge man has been sentenced to life in prison on a first-degree murder charge. Kenneth Gleason was found guilty in April of killing Donald Smart, who worked at Louie's Cafe, back in 2017. Prosecutors say Smart's death was part of a series of crimes Gleason committed, including the killing of a Black man at a bus stop and the shooting into a home of a black family who lived near Gleason.

Thanks for starting your week with us. There's plenty happening today, so check back in later.
