Welcome back to your a.m. news briefing. Here's what we got going on today …


A wait-and-see approach

Baton Rouge schools are leaning toward making masks optional for students when they return to class next month. But they're holding off on making a final decision until they see how COVID rates fluctuate in coming few weeks. Our education reporter Charles Lussier breaks it down for us.


Dangerous waters

Livingston Parish limits access to waterways when things get dangerous, like in the face of a hurricane or wild storm. But local leaders are hesitant to enforce restrictions when it comes to tiki tubing — even though one tuber died and 15 had to be rescued in recent weeks. 

Here's what parish officials told our reporter James Finn.


BRPD officer reinstated

A BRPD officer who lost her job after lying on a police report a few years ago just got her job back. But the damage to her credibility will no doubt complicate future cases.
