with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editorGood morning! Check out some of our most interesting reads from yesterday:
Buried next to The Kingfish? The widow of the late Edwin Edwards, the famous and infamous ex-governor, made a big stir last week when she revealed she had exhumed his body and cremated it — infuriating his children. She said she would love to bury Edwards near Huey P. Long, who is famously interred on the grounds of the State Capitol. There's one issue with that: Nobody's sure whether that's legal. A state representative says he's going to sponsor a bill to let not just Edwards, but any ex-governor, be buried on the Capitol grounds. You can read all about it here.
A stolen song?A New Orleans rapper known as "Slice Beatz," is suing a Baton Rouge rapper who goes by "Mouse on Da Track." Mr. Beatz claims Mr. Da Track swiped a song from him about the best-selling artist Megan Thee Stallion called "Knees like Megan" — and is now profiting massively from it, having racked up 1.6 million streams on Spotify and getting signed with Ms. Thee Stallion's record label. This story walks through the accusations and the evidence behind them.
Who replaces Coach O?More prominent college football coaches are being asked if they're interested in replacing Ed Orgeron, who step down from coaching LSU at the end of this season. Yesterday we heard responses from Clemson's Dabo Sweeney and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Billy Napier. But if you're a betting person, you might be listening to the oddsmakers. And they think Michigan State's Mel Tucker is the frontrunner.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day. |
