Hello and good morning from Augusta, Georgia. In two days, a new Masters winner will be determined. In a few weeks, the SEC baseball championship will be decided. A championship that has alrady decided that it won't be LSU in the mix. The Tigers dropped to 3-10 in SEC play Friday, losing their series opener 6-3 at Tennessee. It was a familiar refrain: not enough clutch pitching (though allowing six runs isn't awful), certainly not enough clutch hitting and the occasional untimely error. The series resumes at 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the SEC Network. Back in Baton Rouge another big story unfolds Saturday as the football Tigers have their annual spring game in Tiger Stadium. Like you, we'r eager to get there and see who leaves a lasting impression heading into the offseason. The game will be shown streaming only on ESPN+ at 1 p.m. Still so much going on with LSU women's basketball even though its season ended two weeks ago. Kim Mulkey opened up about what an emotional seson it was for her and also talks about Hailey Van Lith's decision to transfer out one season after transferring in from Washington State. And, finally, freshman guard Janae Kent becomes the third LSU guard to hit the transfer portal out of town. Like the baseball team, shoddy defense contributed to the LSU softball team's demise in its series opener with Auburn. They'll do it again Saturday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Park. I'm here at The Masters through the weekend, but former LSU All-American Sam Burns isn't. The five-time PGA Tour winner missed the cut by two at the Masters. He's at 8 over, the cut is at 6 over. He now heads home to be with wife Caroline as they await the birth of their first child. We certainly wish them well. Finally, LSU track and field is enjoying some memorable performances in the Tom Jones Memorial meet. That's all for now, folks. Excuse me while I jump into the merchandise line in search of a hat for a friend that says "pimento" on it. Scott Rabalais |
