On to some quick headlines: The Lafayette City Council on Tuesday denied a conditional use permit for a proposed bar and vape shop in Freetown. The council unanimously voted to deny the permit, which would have allowed alcohol sales, for the property at 504 Garfield St. near the Johnston Street intersection. The council's decision came after Freetown residents spoke out against the proposal and applicants Nathan Cruz and his brother, Jissan Cruz, asked the council to defer the vote so they could secure more parking spaces.
