Friend, Facebook wants our congratulations for temporarily suspending Donald Trump’s account. But for years Facebook — and YouTube — have shamelessly amplified and profited off of Trump’s dangerous messages. These companies have refused to take the steps needed to stop widespread hate and disinformation — and the events of January 6 were another tragic example of the consequences. There is no more time to waste — we need real action NOW to fight back against the hold Trump’s lies have on American voters. That’s why we are asking you to take one action every day until Inauguration Day. Right now — join us in demanding that Facebook and YouTube permanently ban Trump. We know that Trump relies on these platforms to spew hate and violent rhetoric far and wide. He may rail against social-media companies, but his own advisers have described his accounts as Trump’s “security blanket and oxygen.” Let's take Trump’s security blanket away. Twitter has finally taken away his favorite microphone — demand that Facebook and YouTube follow suit by permanently banning Donald Trump right now. What Trump says online has real-world impacts. And we saw it on Wednesday when a violent mob of white supremacists fought past the police, bashed in the Capitol building’s windows and doors, and occupied and vandalized the seat of Congress. Tell Facebook and YouTube: This is what happens when you fail to take bold action. You must permanently ban Trump today. Thank you for everything you do to promote truth and safeguard our democracy.
