The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, has unveiled more details on plans to create Freeports in the UK saying they would become “national hubs for trade, innovation and commerce, regenerating communities across the UK and supporting jobs”. He added that Freeports will “attract investment… and will be a key driver for economic recovery”. With the bidding process set to open by the end of 2020, Insider is launching a campaign to back the various bids, provide an in-depth guide to the different locations, outlining what their credentials are and what the long-terms benefits to the economy will be.
