The week before Christmas is bringing lots of exciting announcements for everyone from sour beer lovers to stout lovers!
First things first, we will be open regular hours with the exception of a slight change.
We will be open Monday 12/24, Christmas Eve from 11AM-4PM and closed on Tuesday 12/25 so our hardworking staff can spend more time with their families.
Next week will be the same - 11AM-4PM on Monday 12/31 and closed Tuesday, New Year's Day.
We have a bunch of new merch, beer, and offer gift cards if you're looking for a gift for the beer lover in your life. Beer availability is listed below.
Before we get to the Barrel-Aged Vendel release details, we're psyched to announce that Harimanna Berliner Weisse is back! After a long absence, our original 5.2% sour ale returns to the taps and in 16.9oz bottles to go! Just in time for the Holidays. Not to mention, this would be the perfect beer to toast to the new year with!
Without further ado, we're excited to announce the release of our Winter 2018 version of Barrel-Aged Vendel Imperial Stout! This will be a brewery only release, details below.
ABV: 10.4%
Bottles: 22oz - $14 per bottle, no limits (anticipating 25 cases, so don't sleep)
Draft on site: 4oz - $3, 10oz - $6
Release date: Friday, December 21st from 12-10PM - the first day of Winter
We put our chocolate coffee imperial stout into port wine barrels that previously held our Vinatta RIS, and added ancho chili peppers, cinnamon sticks & vanilla beans directly to the barrel! Ten months of aging in the barrel added complex layers of oak, vanilla, dark stone fruit, and red wine.
The vanilla beans accentuate the vanilla notes from the oak, and contribute to a silky smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Cinnamon sticks add a contrasting spiciness along with a subtle warming sensation to the palate from the ancho chili peppers. Guatemalan coffee roasted at The Coffee Factory in Derry rounds out the flavor profile with a light, but pronounced roast.
Any time we're adding adjuncts of this nature, we do our best to show restraint. The flavors are working to compliment each other, not overpower the base beer.
As with all of our barrel-aged adjuncted beers, we recommend drinking this fresh, and storing bottles in the fridge. Drink this beer now with your loved ones. Cheers and Happy Holidays from the team at Kelsen! |
