Anthony Albanese has led Labor to a historic victory in the federal election, with the ALP on track to win a majority after thumping the Coalition in a landslide. Peter Dutton became the first federal opposition leader in Australian history to lose their seat as the Coalition suffered a crushing swing against it tonight. ‘I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY’: Dutton’s apology after crushing loss By 9.30pm Mr Dutton had rung the Prime Minister to concede defeat. His party’s primary vote had plummeted to historic lows and the early count showed the Coalition losing seats across the eastern seaboard and in Tasmania.
