Note from the editor

This week, I'm at the Energy Storage North America conference in San Diego, reporting and moderating panels on non-battery storage, utility roles in behind-the-meter batteries and market drivers for solar-plus-storage.

This year, I'll be paying close attention to sector perspectives on how storage can reduce the need for traditional utility infrastructure, from transmission lines to gas peakers. And on the other side of the meter, I'm keen to hear how industry leaders think utilities should stimulate the deployment of customer-sited storage — if at all.

If you're at the conference or have a take on either of those subjects, you can email me or hit me up on Twitter. You can also check out the latest news from the event — a new 8 MWh transmission deferral storage project from APS, a project the utility sees as one of the first "pure" transmission deferment plays for storage in the country.

Stay tuned to my Twitter feed for live updates from San Diego — and we'll have more coverage coming soon.
