| Audrey grew up on the prairies of Manitoba. During her adult life she lived in the north and by the seashore in British Columbia. After living in numerous small towns with her husband and children, she moved to Vancouver so she could pursue her desire to continue her art studies. For 25 years off and on she attended Emily Carr University of Art and Design taking one or two courses a semester each year while working full-time and raising her family. During that time she supplemented her university courses with a variety of art workshops until she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2013. When she retired, she and her husband moved to Salt Spring Island, BC. Since moving there her time was split between her two passions; art and golf.
After moving to Salt Spring she and her husband became Snowbirds living 6 months in Arizona during the winter months. Life is always in flux and so it was with Audrey and her husband when they decided to move too Gibsons, B.C. to spend more time with family and grandchildren. After living there for 4 years it was time to move on and find a suitable climate to live all year round and still be able to golf in the winter. Vancouver Island was the most desired location because of the mild winters, and close proximity to family in Port Alberni. So August 2020 she and her husband moved to Qualicum Beach.
The experience of living and working in small towns, meeting new people and seeing various wildlife and beautiful scenery influences Audrey's art. As a result, her collage paintings are filled with colors that are vibrant, bold, and full of multilayers of rich texture and is a metaphor for all the diverse people and places she has enjoyed over the years. Even though her abstract non-representational paintings have moved from hard-edge geometric to softer abstract expressionistic paintings, they still maintain the bright colors and delicious textures.
