Into the Overwhelm is well titled. Three life-sized, snarling terracotta dogs' heads face-off; one with its muzzle bound by rope, one spewing octopus tentacles and the other flowers.

It is striking and slightly disturbing, equal parts myth and mayhem, and it recently won the CASS Art Prize for Three-Dimensional work at our Atelier Open.

Summer school for young jewellers

Budding jewellers are invited to join us in arch three this August for a fun morning session for 12 to 17-year-olds. Starting with a piece of sheet sterling silver, you’ll learn how to cut, shape, form and texture the metal to create your very own silver ring to wear away from the workshop. Gather your inspiration from the beach just outside our workshop door and let our two experienced tutors guide you step by step.

Coming soon - Story Telling Through the Art of Comics with Zara Slattery

We are excited to announce that the incredible Zara Slattery will be joining us for a weekend of comic book art and story telling. Learning how to plan and storyboard, Zara will guide you through the process of bringing your adventure to life.

Zara’s first full length graphic memoir, Coma, was shortlisted for the Myriad First Graphic Novel Competition 2018, The Arts Foundation Futures Awards 2020 and longlisted for the LDComics Awards 2019. Coma won the graphic novel The British Book Design and Production Award in 2021.

Join Zara at Atelier Beside the Sea on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October, from 10am to 4pm. Due to expected high demand we are opening a waiting list. Contact [email protected] to be sure of your place.
