Without more sand, Louisiana's barrier islands shrink and grow costlier to maintain as sea levels rise.

Fires sparked by lightning from Friday night's storm damaged a house in Baton Rouge and the Shintech chemical plant in Plaquemine. 


Sharp downpour

Friday's storm dumped some 7 inches of rain in a few-hour span Friday, causing flash flooding in northeastern Ascension Parish. David Mitchell has the story.
