I was recently asked if our deeply polarized national discourse can be repaired, and if so, how soon?
My answer: It depends on having a healthy, independent media. While I don’t think it will solve all of our problems, we’ve allowed this critical part of our democracy to erode, dragging down our public discourse with it.
The Forward’s long history of creating, curating and hosting respectful discourse is one of the things that drew me here five years ago. Whether we’re covering the election, Israel and Gaza, antisemitism or other deeply complex situations, Forward journalists present a 360-degree view, reporting thoroughly from all sides and platforming all perspectives.
It is our privilege to do this work, but it doesn’t come without cost. |
