YOUR AFTERNOON EDITION
Editor's note: This evening marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, the stretch of time between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and one of the most spiritually charged periods in the Jewish year. It's the time when the work of atonement grows truly serious, and when we are asked to deal most frankly with our own shortcomings.
So we're sharing some reflections we've published, over the years, grappling with repentance. What does it mean to atone as a woman? As a white person? As a Beatles fan? (Yes — really.)
There's no one answer — that's the beauty of Judaism (and journalism). But we hope, as we embark on the demanding days ahead, that the questions themselves can help to guide you.
