Nicole Wittenberg, Goldenrod and Queen Anne's Lace 2 (2023). Pastel on paper, 11.5" x 15.5". OGUNQUIT, ME.- The Ogunquit Museum of American Art presents the first solo museum exhibition of painter Nicole Wittenberg. Featuring recent works on canvas and a series of pastel drawings, Nicole Wittenberg: A Sailboat in the Moonlight explores the deep history of landscape painting within the region, as well as the artists profound connection to the natural environment of Maine. The exhibition is on view through July 20 in OMAAs special exhibition galleries. Wittenbergs works are expressively rich. In a textural play of color and movement, they convey her affective relationship to the natural world, as well as natures evanescent traits. Through sensation and perception, she renders the feeling of subtle forces: a torrent of water, the curve of a leaf, the glare of afternoon light on the bark of a tree. While Wittenberg captures the physical reality of Maines coastal ... More |

Alexander Kaletski channels Caribbean rhythms in vibrant solo show | | Rijksmuseum van Oudheden exhibits high-profile discoveries in 25 years of Dutch archaeology | | New auction record reached for Keith Haring's tribute to Andy Warhol in Heritage's $1.76 million auction | Alexander Kaletski, Day & Night, 2024, oil on linen, 74 x 65 in (188 x 165.1 cm). NEW YORK, NY.- Anna Zorina Gallery announces the Alexander Kaletski solo exhibition, Reggae in Paradise. The show features Kaletskis ongoing Caribbean series that the artist has been developing for the past twenty years. This body of work explores artist's enduring captivation with the sea, using a vibrant color palette and improvisational methods to capture its energy and unpredictability. Kaletski never anticipated that he would create a Caribbean series. However, upon developing the technique that he now calls Pebbles of Light, he realized the improvisational style perfectly portrays the fascinating characters and easygoing spirit of island life. This method starts with daubing generous beads of paint directly onto the canvas. Kaletski then applies sweeping brushstrokes that create unexpected interactions with the preexisting colors. Kaletski has an initial vision and narrative for each painting, but the final outcome is always a surprise. This technique mirrors the island lifestyle of going ... Every find and object in the exhibition has its own special value. It might be a particularly beautiful object, an object that is unique in its kind, or an object that was made in a special way. NEW YORK, NY.- Peter Freeman, Inc. presents Who cannot wait will stumble, Franz Erhard Walthers fourth solo exhibition at the gallery and his first presentation in the United States since his participation in the Performa Biennial 2023 program at the Judd Foundation. Curated by Susanne Walther, the show borrows its title from the text published on the occasion of the artists 1992 exhibition Ãbergänge seitlich Innenmodellierung [Lateral Transitions Interior] at the Kunstmuseum Luzern, in which he reflects on a series of interrelated sentences about issues of materialization and potentiality. Potentiality is central to Walthers practice. It is intrinsic to the participatory relationship he has established between artist, maker, and viewer, where action or even just the possibility of action becomes a form of work itself. Who cannot wait will stumble examines the status of various proposals, works, and architectural projects conceived by Franz Erhard Walther that have yet ...
