A wide Pure joy of life - figures are the focus of the second auction day at Quittenbaum. Besides the famous Chryselephantine dancers by French and Austrian artists, two figures from Agathon Leonard's 'Jeu de l'Echarpe' particularly stand out. The 'Danseuse au cothurne' and the 'Danseuse au Tambourin à gauche' in the bronze version by Susse Frères captivate their viewer with the elegance of their movement and the careful treatment of their material. The two pieces will be called for between EUR 15.000 and 25.000 each. |

Juxtaposed with the adults in this auction is the complete group of 14 toddlers and children designed for the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory between 1904 and 1907 by ceramic artist Konrad Hentschel, who died at the age of 39. The children, immersed in play, captivate one with their naturalness. Two copies of the 'Sitting Child with a Dog Drinking from a Bowl' are offered, the first being a blank of the model (EUR 1.500 - 2.500). The second example, in a very early version with colorful overglaze, dated to 1910 by the anniversary mark, can be purchased for EUR 3.500 - 4.500. The selection is rounded off by sought out metal and silverware. A centerpiece by Ernst Riegel was featured in the magazine "Dekorative Kunst" in 1908. The rich floral decoration of the silver goblet is accented with chrysoprases and is accompanied by a banner: ÜBER ROSEN LAESZT SICH DICHTEN IN DIE AEPFEL MUSS MAN BEISSEN. EUR 6.000 - 7.000 should be kept ready for this rare piece. The Art Deco selection again offers a very rare design by the Parisian goldsmith Raymond Templier. With its abstract decoration in lacquer, blue enamel and eggshell chips in the style of the Delaunays, this elegant silver cigarette case has found its place among the icons of Art Deco. Despite a tiny dent, it is certainly worth its estimated price of EUR 25,000 to 35,000. |
