Wish You Well is a novel written by David Baldacci. First published in 2001, the story starts with the Cardinal family planning to move from New York to California due to money problems, then shifts to the mountains of Virginia after a car accident leaves the father dead and the mother in a catatonic state. The time period is in the 1940s.

The novel was made into a 2013 theatrical film scripted by Baldacci and starring Mackenzie Foy and Ellen Burstyn as a granddaughter and grandmother. Foy and Burstyn both portrayed the character "Murph," at radically different ages, in the film Interstellar the following year.

A 50th anniversary restoration of TITICUT FOLLIES will also be featured, followed by a conversation with documentary director Frederick Wiseman and visionary filmmaker Wes Anderson.

The Arlington Drafthouse wants to make sure you saw the BIG news that a special conversation between Wes Anderson and Frederick Wiseman has been recorded to be attached to the newly restored 4K version of Titicut Follies for its 50th Anniversary as part of the 2017 Art House Theater Day on 9/24.

Books are dangerous. Books contain ideas. Ideas are dangerous. Ideas make people think. Thinking is dangerous. Thinking makes people discuss. Dialogue is dangerous. Dialogue leads to questions. Questions are dangerous. Questioning leads to learning. Learning is dangerous.

Books are dangerous. Stay safe. Avoid books.

Austin's most adventurous band, The Invincible Czars, bring their new tastefully modern score for the 1922 German silent film Nosferatu (1922 F.W. Murnau) to select cities in the South, Midwest and East Coast this fall.

Nosferatu is one of the most revered films in the history of cinema. It is most certainly as the most important horror film of the silent era and one of the first vampire movies - though it was almost completely lost when the estate of Bram Stoker sued the filmmakers for copyright infringement and most of the prints of the movie were destroyed.

A master of reinvention, Kilmer transforms himself into the "First American," Mark Twain, in a comedic and moving performance that is both contemporary and reflective. The piece is based on the life of the man, Samuel Clemens, and of course his writings as Mark Twain. From his thoughts on politics (including his famous disdain for the U.S. Congress), to his family and ultimately his faith and God, Twain spins a series of yarns with his timeless satire and incomparable wit. Mr. Kilmer will introduce the 90-minute film and conduct a question and answer period with the audience following the screening. VIP ticket holders will have an opportunity to meet Val, chat, and take photos after the Q&A.
