More than a third of employees are using artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, at work and most of them aren't telling their supervisors, according to a survey of more than 11,000 users of the professional networking app Fishbowl. Some samples of how AI is being used: writing copy, coding, drafting marketing emails and writing cover letters and resumes.

Layoffs in the technology industry continue as both Zoom and eBay announced workforce cuts. Zoom CEO Eric Yuan said the company is reducing its workforce by 15%, affecting around 1,300 employees, while eBay CEO Jamie Iannone said it's laying off about 4% of its workforce, affecting 500 workers.

Graduate students of color and those from other underrepresented groups face unique hardships such as lack of diversity and systemic discrimination, which may challenge their sense of well-being and potential for success, write Dinuka Gunaratne, director of career development and experiential learning at Northeastern University in Vancouver, Canada, and Punita Lumb, a PhD candidate and associate director of the Multi-Faith Centre at the University of Toronto. Strategies for students include finding a supportive mentor, joining or creating an affinity group, and building a supportive network, they write.
