| Stocks gained ground in Wednesday's session as the S&P 500 advanced 0.25% to set a new record high on the session. The Dow was the day's top performer with a 0.6% advance, and the Nasdaq took a 0.2% loss on the day. The Dow and S&P 500 are up for the week, but the Nasdaq is down slightly. CPI Slowdown Inflation is cooling off from its torrid pace a few months ago, according to yesterday's July CPI Report, but prices are still much higher than they were at the onset of the pandemic. Many see the slowdown as evidence the Fed's transitory inflation prediction is accurate, but this thing is far from over. Keep an eye on today's Producer Price Index for more inflation insights. |
