| | Would you launch a business in 2020? A lot of folks are—at least per LendingTree, which says new business loan applications were up a staggering 85% in July compared to the same month last year. Unfortunately but understandably, the trend is likely being driven by widespread job loss across the United States and the rest of the world amid the Covid-19 pandemic. As you might imagine, web platforms like Squarespace and other startup tools are thriving amid this trend. Squarespace has been one of the most creative marketers of recent years, with CCO David Lee being named to this year's Adweek Creative 100. And the brand's new spots, which aim to stoke the fires of entrepreneurship in a big way, are a blast to watch. The anthem spot of the Launch It campaign is quite epic and visually stunning, but it's the "Launch Kit" spots that I enjoy most. They poke a bit of fun at the style-over-substance that come sometimes go into launching startups with a finger on the pulse of the moment, making them relatable to point of leaving entrepreneurs feeling maybe a bit too "seen." Check out the spots and then let me know if you've got a side business in the works! I'd love to see it and hear how it's going. You can drop me a note at the email below or at @Griner on Twitter.
