Hi John!

Thank you to everyone who sent in ideas for the format on this weekly email. I’ll keep working on improving it so that you get more value out of it. I just love this community and each week I get more and more excited about what we’re achieving together.

I appreciate and love you all so much.

Cartoon Of The Week

This was a commissioned cartoon. (Did you know I take commissions?) The person wanted me to portray Jesus teaching a woman how to flip tables. It was a fun project and we are both so happy with the results.

I do think it's fitting that we learn how to challenge abuse, corruption, and exploitation... injustice of all kinds... when we can.

In this case she's learning from the master table-flipper.

I’ve been asked to make it available on merch so you can find it on tees, mugs, and stickers too! Search for “Table Flipping Master Class” to find them in my store.

Post Of The Week

I posted this carousel explaining that when people are suffering the last thing they need is advice on what they did wrong or what they can do better.

When I posted this and saw the overwhelming response to it, as you can see in the comments, so many of you know exactly what it's like to be suffering or struggling and have people try to fix you. Maybe they mean well, but it doesn't help. What really encourages me is that because you know this, you know it's not good to do it to others. That means a lot.

Quote of the week

I read Talia Lavin's new book,
Cultural Warlords. Here's a quote from the book that I wrote into my journal because it articulates so well why I am so diligent moderating the comments on my posts the way I do:

"Without regulation constraining such caustic and dangerous speech, without meaningful social checks on consuming such content, and without protections for the general public from the soldiers of hate, it is safe to assume that these movements will continue to grow fueled by slickly produced propaganda disseminated in the guise of 'just asking questions' about a multiracial democratic order. Wrapped up in a glossy layer of reasoned inquiry, hate is cunningly smuggled through the bright screen."

Deconstruction Course

I currently have a deconstruction course which you can join at any time. I’m thinking about re-launching it as a group course with guest speakers, new content, new videos and so much more. If you’ve got any requests for the course please let me know.

I hope you’re enjoying these weekly emails as much as I am.

Much love,
David
