TODAY'S TOP STORY The buggiest apps of 2024 When I saw this, I knew I had to share it with you. Researchers over at Electronics Hub did the thankless work of going through 400 of the most-used apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and thousands of user reviews β all to find the buggiest, most frustrating-to-use apps. Take a look at this list, and remember: Sometimes, itβs not about you not knowing how to use your phone; itβs the apps. Someone call pest control Here are the worst app offenders of 2024: Shopping: Convenience chain Wawaβs app topped the list, with issues on order pickups and redeeming fuel points. Other big brands have big app bugs, too; the Target, Best Buy and CVS Pharmacy apps all ranked among the worst. Dating: If you're trying to find a match on Grindr, it's the glitchiest of the dating apps and has frequent messaging issues. Food and drink: Craving a late-night burrito? You should probably hit the Taco Bell drive-thru. The fast-food chain's app was the buggiest, with the Wendy's, Sonic and ChickβfilβA apps right behind. Social: Many people say the latest updates for Amino, a social app for niche interests, don't actually fix bugs. Telegram is really bad, too β not what you want from a βprivacy-focusedβ app. Gaming: Anyone still playing PokΓ©mon GO? If so, the app crashes shortly after launching or when you open an in-game map. Productivity: The prize goes to GTLβs GettingOut app, which is used to communicate with loved ones in prison. The app regularly freezes and has issues sending and receiving pics. Business apps Notion and Google Docs ranked high on the list for this category, too. π Banking and finance: Drum roll, please β¦ The Go Program Way2Go Card app isnβt just the buggiest finance app β it's the buggiest app overall. Not cool. It's used by state governments to deliver child support payments and unemployment benefits. The Navy Federal Credit Union app came in second. Yeesh. Squash those bugs Before you delete that buggy app and throw your phone out the window, try a force restart. On Android: Hold your finger on the appβs icon and click the "i" in the top right corner of the pop-up. Then, click Force Stop in the bottom right. On iPhone: Swipe up on the problem app to close it, then tap its app icon to relaunch it. Didnβt work? Restart your phone. Failing that, I have a bunch more tips here on my site here. You could also leave a scathing review β¦ or contact the app's developer. Both Android and Apple users can find contact details under the App support heading in the Google Play or Apple App stores to report bugs. It might be the lesser of two weevils β¦ π

WEB WATERCOOLER π¨ Selfie scam warning: Criminals are combing social media for selfies, and older adults are the main targets. Why? They use your selfies to open fake accounts or access existing ones that use facial biometric tech, all so they can steal your money. Safety checklist: Enable multifactor authentication and keep your social media profiles private. Another health care data breach: WebTPA provides admin services to health benefit plans and insurance companies. Hackers stole the names, contact details, birth and death dates, Social Security numbers and insurance info of 2.4 million people in April 2023. And if your friend likes to ramble, listen at double speed. πͺοΈ Going out for a spin: Travelers are shelling out big bucks to chase dangerous storms in βTornado Alley,β which stretches through the central U.S. and into the Canadian Prairies. For $2,000 to $4,500 per trip, tour guides bring folks as close as safely possible to hail the size of baseballs and winds that can sweep you off your feet. Yes, youβve got to sign a waiver. Dead end: A man turned his terminally ill father into a chatbot. After recording hours of his life story, it answers him in Dadβs voice. Would you want your family members to do this for you? If not, talk to them or add a line to your estate documents. π€¦ Baby, donβt Hertz me: Get a load of this β rental car giant Hertz got caught charging Tesla renters hundreds for gas. They blame a system glitch that added a βSkip the Pumpβ fee to EV invoices. Refunds are rolling out. Are they sorry? Yup β you get one free EV rental day. Iβll pass. |
