And That's a Wrap on Earth Month!

Four weeks, eighteen student outreach activities and eight community partnership events later, we've reached the end of an incredible month of environmental action and festivities! Check out the ways our students celebrated Earth Month by making the planet and our communities stronger and greener.

Students Turn Old Clothes into Dog Toys to Fight Fashion Waste with the Support of Subaru Pacific

Last Saturday, Grades of Green students from CAMS High School in Carson, CA, delivered over 150 dog toys created out of donated clothes from Subaru Pacific to Gone to the Dogs Rescue. It was so pawsome to see the dogs enjoy their sustainably sourced toys! 
To cap off the event, Subaru Pacific presented Grades of Green with a huge check from their annual Share the Love charity event in the amount of $26,118! Thank you to LAcarGUY's Subaru Pacific dealership for being long time supporters of Grades of Green.

Announcing the #LitterFreeLB  Champion: human I-T!

Human I-T has officially claimed the title of #LitterFreeLB Champion! Thanks for helping Doranelly clean up litter across Long Beach! We are so impressed and inspired by the impact that Doranelly has made by rallying her community to create a greener, litter-free Long Beach.

A special thank you to the City of Long Beach Office of Sustainability for supporting Doranelly's project and all the green businesses that make their home in Long Beach. 
A big 'thank you' also goes out to Aguas Way, Berlin Bistro, Burke Mercantile, BYO Long Beach, Feel Good Salsa, human I-T, Long Beach Creamery and Portfolio Coffee House who all participated in this worthwhile challenge.

Eco Drawings by the Goethe Green Machines


The Goethe Green Machines from Goethe Charter School in Marina del Rey put their artistic skills on display last weekend as they created incredibly unique drawings of trees surrounded by inspirational and educational messages to motivate their community to care for our green neighbors.

Students' Vegetarian Recipe Site Goes Live


The Healthy Kings and Queens from Stephens Middle School in Long Beach have officially launched their website sharing vegetarian recipes from the heart of Long Beach and beyond. From starters to main dishes and desserts, there are so many delicious and unique recipes to try! Thanks to everyone who submitted their favorite plant-based recipes.

LA Kings, AEG & Blue Shield of CA Score a Win for Earth Day


The LA Kings, AEG, Blue Shield of California along with Grades of Green teamed up to send litter to the penalty box for Earth Week! From April 22nd to the 25th, employees conducted litter clean-ups and competed to see who could pick up the most litter.

We were excited to organize this amazing event and help the awesome organizations take action for Earth  Day!
