Dear Customer, I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and well at this time. As we enjoy a long bank holiday weekend, many of us will be reflecting on how everyday life has changed in recent months. We have all had to significantly adapt our daily lives, including the way we shop, and I want to personally thank you for your ongoing patience and co-operation. Working together, we have continued to make changes to protect you and our colleagues, and to ensure we can feed the nation, including the most vulnerable, at this unprecedented time. Most recently, we have begun providing our store and distribution colleagues with the option of wearing face masks, and of accessing the Government’s Covid-19 testing programme. These moves were in addition to the other measures we have put in place to provide you with a safe, efficient and affordable shopping experience when you visit your local Aldi store. As a reminder, these have included: • Providing gloves to all store and distribution workers • Installing clear screens at more than 7,000 checkouts • Limiting the number of people in store at any one time • Encouraging customers to shop alone, where possible, and adhere to one person per trolley • Installing two-metre floor markers and increased in-store signage promoting physical distancing • Encouraging customers to use contactless payment such as contactless cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay rather than cash, where possible These measures would not have been as effective without you playing your part by following our guidelines with patience and understanding. There are bound to be more changes to come in these and other areas of our everyday lives. Whatever they may be, the steps we have taken are important and we expect that they – and your continued support for them – will be needed for the foreseeable future. Another issue that is not going away is the need for us all to make our money go further. At Aldi, we have always understood the need for quality food at affordable prices. This is never more important than when we face financial pressures, as we know many people do right now. I therefore want to repeat my guarantee to you that Aldi will continue to offer the lowest prices of any supermarket in Britain. Whatever changes we make in store – and I will of course keep you updated whenever we do – I want you to know that whenever you shop at Aldi, you can be certain that the price you pay at the till will be the lowest of any supermarket. In the meantime, thank you for your support in making Aldi a safe place to shop. Best wishes, Giles Hurley CEO - Aldi UK and IRE | |||||||||
