Special hearings designed to protect victims in domestic violence cases aren't used in New Orleans court nearly as much as they are in Jefferson Parish, according to a new report from the city. But court officials in Orleans Parish have objected to the comparison, saying there are policy differences that make it unfair, while the district attorney's office has its own argument for how the system fails to serve justice in such cases.
