Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here are some of today's top headlines. The move, as Marie Fazio reports, mirrors similar actions taken by schools across the country as the Trump administration targets diversity programs. Hoffman execution: Tonight, death row inmate Jessie Hoffman is set to become the first person in Louisiana to be executed by nitrogen gas. In a last-ditch effort to save his life, Hoffman's legal team Monday filed a flurry of last-minute challenges in state and federal courts, some of which will be considered first thing this morning. Meghan Friedmann and John Simerman have the latest. 'We are failing': Pregnancy care in Louisiana is getting worse despite increases in funding, according to a state audit that found many pregnant Medicaid patients in the state can’t get prenatal or postpartum care due to doctor shortages, bad provider lists and transportation issues. Emily Woodruff has the details from the report. Thanks for reading. Check back throughout the day for more news, entertainment and sports from The Times-Picayune. |
