There are grand and historic homes designed by celebrated architects across Los Angeles, but few estates offer two dozen bedrooms and about as many bathrooms, plus two swimming pools, a sports court, and more than two acres of rolling lawns. Such a space does not come cheap, of course. To wit: a late 1920s Elmer Grey-designed Tudor Revival Compound in the posh heart of Bel Air priced at $30.5 million. Meanwhile, a prewar duplex penthouse in Manhattan's Beekman Place, previously home to a couple of the U.S.'s most revered literary lions, Dorothy Parker and F. Scott Fitzgerald, has sailed onto the market for $6 million. Three bedrooms on the lower floor each have a private bath—the primary suite has two!—while public spaces on the upper floor spill out to a lushly planted wraparound terrace.
