Why This Matters: Amazon began offering a download option for iOS and Android devices last fall. Those users consumed 5.69 billion minutes of video, a jump from 3.41 billion a year ago. Why This Matters: Nielsen is attempting to measure more forms of media consumption. At the same time, it is trying to report that usage in a way that allows clients to make comparisons among media on an apples-to-apples basis. 2 Takes: MCN | Advanced Television | | #3 | | YouTube to Stream Political Conventions in 360 Degrees | | | YouTube announced that it will offer live 360 degree streaming coverage of both the Republic National Convention and Democratic National Convention. Jump VR cameras will be used to offer a 360 degree view from the convention floor, while mobile live streaming will offer viewers a better idea of what its like to be there. Why This Matters: The videos will provide a 360 degree wrap-around perspective users can control with their finger on mobile devices or via a mouse on a computer.
