Did you know it’s a felony to call 911 and waste their time? Yes, it’s true! Spamming 911 with unnecessary calls can interfere with real police work and can even prevent someone from getting the lifesaving help they need. So it’s no wonder one woman from Ohio was arrested after calling 911 multiple times over a cellphone bill. The woman’s parents cut off her cell service because of a bill dispute, and in her anger she tried to call the cops on them. Eventually, the police did show up, but not to take her parents away. It’s a shame she wasn’t a Komando.com newsletter subscriber. If she was, she would have known there are plenty of apps like WhatsApp that let you make free phone calls. But on a positive note, she got at least one free phone call — from the police station.

It’s not a good idea to waste the time of police or emergency services over the phone.
