DEATH OF A LINEMAN: We've learned more about the circumstances surrounding the death of Glenn Foster Jr., after he was arrested on misdemeanor traffic charges in Pickens County, Alabama. While his family was arranging to bond him out and take him to a hospital for an evaluation, Foster attacked another inmate and two guards in the jail, resulting in felony charges that precluded bail, authorities said in court records. He died the next morning.
OMICRON RISING: Even as Pfizer said a booster dose of its COVID-19 vaccine might offer important protection against the new omicron variant, Louisiana reported 16 probable cases of the variant, up from 1 in less than a week.
