The Saints' All-Pro DE was back in his natural habitat ... surrounded by kids
With Luke Johnson There are a lot of things Cam Jordan does really well. You've seen him dismantle opposing offenses with his blend of power and athleticism on game days, and maybe you've heard him talk in interviews — can confirm, he's really good at talking. But one of the best things Jordan brings to the community is his time and his effort. The COVID-19 pandemic took a lot of things away from New Orleans and the world at large last year, but for Jordan it robbed him of a chance to be present and tangible for the kids in New Orleans. That's a big deal to him. With restrictions loosening, he was back out there with the kids at his Cam's 3 Football Camp Tuesday afternoon in Harahan. We were there to talk to him about what it meant for him to be back out there, and what it meant to take his son along with him for the first time. Jordan also chatted about quarterback Jameis Winston and the state of the Saints' secondary (spoiler alert: He thinks both are better than they're given credit for). That's not it, though. This week, Saints' salary cap guru Khai Harley participated in an event that is meant to accelerate the promotion of people of color to NFL General Manager jobs, which is a big deal for one of the architects of the Saints roster. And if you thought this was the dead time of year for Saints coverage, friends, I have news! Sean Payton and Skylene Montgomery were married last weekend in Mexico (Payton was showing some serious wedding day swagger).Columnist Rod Walker dove into ESPN Father's Day ode to Steve Gleason. Alvin Kamara works for NASCAR now (no, seriously). Dive in! Read up! And, oh by the way, training camp starts in a little more than a month. Cheers, Luke |
