As an important law firm within China’s “Red Circle”, Haiwen & Partners has long been known for its low-key, pragmatic style and offering of high-quality services. Contrary to other rapidly expanding firms, Haiwen has had offices just in Beijing and Shanghai, and launched its third office in Shenzhen only this year. We speak to Zhang Jiping, the managing partner of Haiwen, who explains how the firm transitioned from a pure lock-step system to a modified lock-step system, its culture and its new strategy.
