Join me for a livestreamed Guardian Live event on Wednesday 24 April
Hello reader, This year, over 2 billion people will be voting in a record-breaking number of elections around the world. It will also mark the first major electoral cycle in the era of widespread generative AI. On Wednesday 24 April at 8pm BST, I’ll be joined by three experts in this field for a special livestreamed event - Katie Harbath, founder and chief executive officer of the technology policy firm Anchor Change; Tom Phillips, writer and former editor of Full Fact; and Imran Ahmed, chief executive officer of the Center for Countering Digital Hate. Together we’ll work out how we distinguish between real news and fake news, and explore how AI could potentially disrupt the democratic process. You will also have the chance to send us your own thoughts and questions on this, often dizzying, subject. Book your tickets here. I hope you can join us.
