‘Agility in their DNA’

The day before a new President takes the helm, there are so many big questions swirling about the next six months and beyond. As part of our next magazine issue, Adweek editors wrote about the media and marketing trends to watch.

Implications of spotty vaccine rollouts and different countries at various stages of lockdown make it tough for companies to plan for in-person events (although the Ascential-owned Cannes Lion festival has drawn a line in La Croisette Beach sand). 

The Atlantic is building back up its events division with the hire of general manager and svp of events Candace Montgomery and a slate of 20 virtual events for the first half of this year. Although it wasn’t alone, the publisher had to make deep cuts last May to its in-person events team, which was pretty industry-leading and had north of 50 employees.
