The LSU football team didn't lose this weekend. Say it again. The LSU football team didn't lose this weekend. That was the good news Monday. As you already know, the Tigers had an open date — time for some rest and relaxation before jumping into the final month of the regular season. But there was bad news anyway when they returned to work Monday: First, veteran quarterback Myles Brennan told coach Ed Orgeron he was entering the transfer portal. "It was a tough decision for him," Orgeron said during his weekly news conference. "He thought that he needed to find a place that he felt like he could go play at for one year and start." Later, Orgeron announced that freshman safety Sage Ryan, a five-star recruit, will not play in Saturday's game with No. 3 Alabama in Tuscaloosa. But, Orgeron said starting right guard Chasen Hines should be ready to return after missing the better part of the past two games. Brennan's departure wasn't a big shock since, as Orgeron noted, he's looking to be a starter after more than a year of on- and off-field frustration brought about by injuries. Columnist Scott Rabalais takes a look at the highly-touted Brennan's unfulfilling career with the Purple and Gold and how it ended so unfairly. In other news: • Orgeron said running back Tre Bradford, who transferred to Oklahoma and back to LSU, is finally healthy and eligible to make his season debut against Alabama. • With linebacker Navonteque Styrong hitting the transfer portal, Orgeron said freshman Greg Penn II should be the "next man up" for the Tigers on Saturday. • Also, LSU learned Monday its next home game against Arkansas on Nov. 13 will be televised by the SEC Network with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. To our subscribers: Thank you for supporting our sportswriters' work.
