Dear TNR reader, Heartbroken. Worried. And angry. These are just a few of the emotions that we at Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) have been grappling with over the past several weeks as the crisis in Afghanistan unfolds before our eyes. We’ve witnessed a frantic and chaotic evacuation out of Afghanistan – and we need your help. Will you join PHR and lend your voice to our urgent ask of the Biden administration? |
The situation on the ground is escalating quickly and thousands of women, men, and children are scrambling to find refuge and safety. Government negligence in addressing the visa backlog means that many who would be eligible to come to the United States still lack documentation. It is imperative that the U.S. government ensure a safe evacuation for the most vulnerable Afghans, regardless of their immigration status. The Biden administration has a moral and ethical obligation to not only secure safe passage of those fleeing, but to expedite and remove any bureaucratic barriers for these people. At PHR, our work to protect human rights crosses borders and spans the globe – but we can’t do it without your help. Thanks so much for your time today, and thank you for using your voice to advocate for those fleeing danger and potential persecution in Afghanistan. Sincerely, Physicians for Human Rights |
