Apogee Rocketry Workshop #308: Create a New Rocket Design - Part 2
This is a beginner's tutorial on how to design a rocket. The context is how to do it in RockSim, but it contains information that any designer would need to consider if they were starting from scratch. That is why we're releasing this RockSim tutorial as a stand-alone series. This video is all about how to actually convert your ideas into usable and accurate rocket files. This is part #2 of a 3 part series. In this particular video, we're adding the internal components in the rocket. We'll talk about designing the rocket to make sure it is stable from the start, so you don't have to fix it later. RX-250-LPN

The RX-250-LPN is a sounding rocket developed by the Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space. This is a scale model (1/7.42) model of that rocket from ASP, featuring a 24mm motor mount and water-slide decals.

Lightning Bug Dual-Deployment Altimeter

The Lightning Bug Dual Deployment Altimeter is unique in that it doesn't require a standard igniter for the deployment charges. It creates a plasma arc from ordinary wire to ignite the ejection charge. So it is cheaper to operate than other altimeters.

More Aerotech Motors

Aerotech has released two new single-use (DMS) high power motors: the I175WS-13A (38mm) and the G75M-13A (29mm). Somehow we missed the single-use G72DM-14A (29mm) sparky motor, so we added it to our selection as well.

Estes C5-3

Dubbed the "Super-C" by Estes Industries, this C motor packs some exciting kick. Contrary to common naming nomenclature, the C5-3 actually has a higher thrust spike than the C6 engines from Estes. And it burns slightly longer too.

This motor is best suited to heavier rockets (like those intended to loft payloads) and those with high amounts of drag (like flying saucers). Right now, there is only a short 3-second delay available. But we expect longer delays to be in the works.

I have ordered many times form Apogee Components now and the service I receive is second to none.
