Advance Denim Introduces BioBlue Indigo to Safely Enhance Eco-Friendly Dyeing

In our constant effort to make the cleanest and most sustainable indigo product possible, we are proud to introduce our newest innovation, BioBlue Indigo. BioBlue is a groundbreaking indigo dye method that puts indigo into reduction without the use of harmful sodium hydrosulfite. It is well known that in traditional indigo dyeing, sodium hydrosulfite is used to make the indigo dye soluble in water and also improves the surface appearance of indigo dyed yarn. Sodium Hydrosulfite is a very effective and powerful chemical that turns indigo into a soluble, dye-friendly form and has dominated industrial dye processing since the advent of synthetic indigo. The problem is that Sodium Hydrosulfite is not an eco-friendly chemical and as its name suggests has a very high salt content and salt is notoriously hard to remove from wastewater. It is also high in sulfates that build up in the wastewater and at high levels can release harmful gases. Sodium hydrosulfite is not only just harmful to the environment but it is a highly unstable flammable material that is very dangerous to both start and transport. BioBlue is the eco-friendly replacement for sodium hydrosulfite that is stable safe and eco-friendly. Bioblue uses proprietary FDA approved chemistry that is eco-friendly and reduces harmful COD values of wastewater after dying. This reduction will make it easier to clean and reuse the water after the dying, creating a greater ability to circulate water through the indigo dye process.

Advance Denim will continue to invest in sustainability and clean innovations that change the way that we produce denim. BioBlue is the latest innovation that will be used in our Shunde China production facility as well as our Advance Sico facility in Nah Trang Vietnam in the very near future. We hope that innovations such as BioBlue will end the use of Sodium Hydrosulfite and usher in a cleaner and safer denim future.
