By 2034, there will be a shortage of physicians ranging from 37,800 to 124,000, according to a recent report prepared for the Association of American Medical Colleges. The projected physician shortage is a complex challenge that requires urgent action, AAMC President and CEO David Skorton, MD, said in a prepared statement.

The ABIM Foundation, created by the American Board of Internal Medicine, will spend the next few years focusing on ways to increase trust among healthcare stakeholders. Through its Building Trust campaign, the Foundation hopes to identify and eliminate the reasons for decreased trust among patients, clinicians, system leaders, researchers, and others representing the U.S. healthcare system.
