NEW FUNDING TO SUPPORT SCOTLAND'S RECOVERY 

The Scottish Government has announced new targeted funding designed to seize Scotland’s economic potential, creating secure, sustainable and satisfying jobs and supporting businesses recovery from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Taxi drivers and operators across Scotland will receive up to an additional £62 million of funding (click for full details) whilst a further £25 million will support the culture sector through the second round of the Performing Arts Venue Relief Fund and the Culture Organisations and Venues Recovery Fund.

Easing of Restrictions Sees Fife to Move to Level One

As the vaccination programme advances through age groups, some restrictions are to be eased sooner in areas where case rates and prevalence of coronavirus (COVID-19) allow.

The move sees Fife, along with a number of other areas, move to Level One on Saturday, June 5th.

Destination and Sector Marketing Fund

A new £3 million VisitScotland Destination and Sector Marketing Fund has been launched as part of a national tourism recovery strategy.

This is one of the ten recovery proposals developed by the Scottish Tourism Emergency Response Group (STERG) in collaboration with the Tourism Task Force and is part of the £25 million tourism recovery programme announced in March.

Former Bifab Facility Gets New Tenant

Orca Oceanic Systems Ltd has announced a new operations facility at the former Burntisland Fabrications (BiFab) site located in Burntisland, after securing a significant contract from Well-Safe Solutions for the provision of Dive System Support and Engineering Services.
 
The Burntisland facility will be the focal point for the refurbishment, modernisation and commissioning of dive systems and associated equipment by the Aberdeen headquartered business.

Investment to support legal aid traineeships

A fund providing up to £1 million to support 40 new legal aid trainees has been launched. 

The government fund will be managed by the Law Society of Scotland and support new talent through the duration of their traineeships.

The support package will increase the capacity and capability of the legal aid profession in Scotland by providing employment and training opportunities.
