View email online | | | | | Sep 16, 2020 | | | | | | Good afternoon, "Unless we act now it is highly likely that cases of serious illness and deaths will rise in the weeks to come." That was Nicola Sturgeon's stern message to Scots today as she warned of rising deaths linked to coronavirus. New data from National Records Scotland (NRS) published today revealed a total of 4,236 people have died in Scotland with confirmed or suspected coronavirus. A total of five deaths relating to Covid-19 were registered between September 7 and 13, two in a care home and three in a hospital. The stats differ from the lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths announced daily by the Scottish Government because they include suspected or probable cases of Covid-19. With tougher lockdown measures already in place around Glasgow and surrounding areas, today we examined the likelihood of similar restrictions coming in for Edinburgh and the Lothians. The pandemic has caused economic turmoil for businesses the length and breadth of the county. We need your support to continue to provide quality and trusted journalism.
