An unexpected cause for a traffic jam made news on this day in 1983 when motorists returning from holidays along the Kings Highway, near Bungendore, were shocked by the appearance of a large mob of 2700 sheep being moved by their drovers. While sheep do pass regularly, a sign is usually displayed warning motorists of possible delays. Drivers had to brake hard to avoid hitting the large mob and chaos followed when cars tried to pass each other in an attempt to get through the obstruction. READ MORE
