AB Espresso: UAE court ruling opens door for crypto benefits

A recent UAE court decision has highlighted the growing acceptance of cryptocurrency in employment contracts, though full crypto salary payments remain restricted. The ruling, which ordered an employer to pay promised digital EcoWatt tokens as part of an employment benefit package, could pave the way for broader crypto adoption in the UAE‘s financial framework.

Meanwhile, while the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared mpox – formerly monkeypox – a global public health emergency for the second time since 2022, doctors told Arabian Business the UAE is safe. However, doctors advice residents to exercise caution, follow government announcements.

On the real estate front, Dubai Land Department (DLD) has signed an agreement with seven developers in Dubai to grant them the authority to use DLD’s registration systems to manage their real estate transactions. This initiative aims to strengthen cooperation with the private sector and enhance the services provided to the public through the department’s electronic systems, contributing to reducing transaction times and simplifying procedures.

Aside from this, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the traffic improvements at four key locations within the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex. These enhancements include the widening of entry and exit points and the introduction of traffic-calming measures such as traffic lights and pedestrian crossings. The RTA remains dedicated to its strategy of enhancing the efficiency of Dubai’s road network, aligning with the city’s development goals and the needs of road users.

In other news, Saudi Arabia is planning to build a version of the Louvre museum in Riyadh, according to a claim in a new BBC documentary on the Kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. The Louvre of Saudi Arabia would feature artwork valued at close to $500 million, with the gallery acting as a magnet for global tourism.
