AB Espresso: UAE announces new law for arts, creatives

The UAE Government has issued a Federal Decree-Law to regulate art institutions through non-profit organisations. The law establishes a unified framework for arts institutions, promotes artistic creation, and aims to attract talent while supporting the creative economy.

In addition, the UAE Government has introduced a 'Know Your Customer' (KYC) digital platform to modernise financial infrastructure and enhance identity verification processes. The initiative aims to improve transparency, ensure regulatory compliance, and combat financial crime as part of the country’s digital transformation strategy.

In other major developments, the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), announced the phased resumption of drone operations. However, operators must comply with guidelines available on the UAE Drones mobile app or official website.

Meanwhile, Dubai Police plans to open the region’s first floating Smart Police Station (SPS) by 2026 as part of strategic projects worth AED2 billion. Operating round the clock without human intervention, the station will offer various services, including filing reports, returning lost items, and processing certificates in multiple languages and more.

Aside from this, Saudi Arabia will begin operating its Riyadh Metro on November 27, starting with three of six lines. The remaining lines will launch in mid-December, completing the world’s longest driverless metro system. Approved in 2012 with a cost of $22.5 billion, the project is part of Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification strategy.
