AB Espresso: RTA announces opening of two MAJOR bridges

Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) opened two major bridges on Sunday as part of the Garn Al Sabkha-Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project. The entire project includes four bridges totalling 2,874 metres in length, with a combined capacity of 17,600 vehicles per hour.

In other major developments, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), has approved the launch of the ‘Dubai Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Grant Initiative’. The initiative aims to fund research projects that drive advancements in Dubai’s key economic sectors.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced the conclusion of the Midday Break initiative, effective September 15, 2024. The programme, which began on June 15, prohibited work under direct sunlight and in open spaces from 12:30PM to 3:00PM. The initiative forms part of an integrated system implemented by the Ministry to establish a safe working environment that adheres to best practices and occupational health and safety standards.

Aside from this, the International Charity Organisation (ICO) has launched a new initiative called ‘Correction of the Status of Violators’ in support of a national campaign to exempt individuals from residency fines. The initiative, backed by AED3 million in funding, aims to assist 600 applicants in its first phase. This programme aligns with the broader campaign initiated by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (UAEICP) to waive fines for those who have violated entry and residency regulations.

Moreover, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has announced the release of new Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Guidelines for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This initiative is part of the Emirate’s efforts to improve care for People of Determination (PoD). The guidelines align with Abu Dhabi’s Comprehensive Strategy for People of Determination (PoD) 2020-2024, which aims to shift the perception of disabilities from a medical to a societal and rights-based model.
